Why inactivity kills and what you can do
For decades, I have seen evidence that governments are waking up to the notion that inactivity is a risk factor for health problems and, therefore, something that needs to be addressed. I have known this for a long time but found little support in the wider community, particularly in the health service itself.
Physical Inactivity, also known as sedentary behaviour, is now recognised by governments and health bodies as a direct contributor to serious disease. This means that governments must now build this into policy and infrastructure and make it easier for people to move around throughout the day.
In recent years, I have encountered an increasing number of books and papers that show the scale of the problem and hint at the solution.
Study the course
In this short course, I want to introduce you to the importance of all forms of physical activity to your health.
You will be surprised how little physical activity we all do compared to our ancestors. We all struggle these days to get enough physical activity and the right kind, so don’t beat yourself up about it.
It IS possible to include all you need but it takes time, effort and support. That is what Fit2Thrive is here for and I have a LOT of ideas and experience.
I have created this course To help you understand the risks of physical activity and show what you can do to minimise those risks and live a long healthy happy life. Once you start your journey towards being more physically active you need regular support to take step after step each day.
You will learn how to use the activities, courses and teachers on the site to give you options every day to take the next step towards better health and a better lifestyle.
