A healthy hack for christmas breakfast in a rush. Mince pies, pears, strawberries and grapes #roadtochristmas

On those super busy change your plans at the last minute kind of mornings here is a trick I use to make a celebration of it.

Yields:

1 Serving

Prep time:

0 hours 1 mins

Total time:

2 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 pear
  • Seasonal fruit, strawberries, raspberries. Whatever is in the fridge. Chop if necessary
  • 2 mince pies

Directions

It’s super simple but a guide always helps

  1. Put all the ingredients onto a plate
  2. Take a bite of fruit
  3. Take a bit of mince pie
  4. Chew and enjoy. Enjoy the flavour and consider what combination you want next.
    • Do you take a bit of mince pie followed by fruit, or fruit followed by mince pie?
    • How much fruit do you need to balance the mince pie?
  5. Repeat steps 2-5 until all ingredients are eaten /you are full / you need to leave

The logic

The mince pies need toning down, and the fruit often needs sweetening, so this combination provides the perfect match.

The mince pies are clearly indulgent and the fruit is clearly healthy.

Together, they make gorgeous flavour and texture combinations. No heavy sauce is needed. It’s cheap and easy to get at a shop and seasonal, so I vary it all the time to suit my mood.

Best of all, because it’s part of a normal meal and not extra food, it’s free in terms of calories, so it’s all pleasure and no pain.
