Create your path: Invest in knowledge

Colin ChambersEveryday adventures, steps Leave a Comment

If you want to create your dream lifestyle it’s really not that hard but it does take work and it is possible. You might think that the dream of a healthy happy life isn’t open to you but it is. For the same reason that a Lion doesn’t ponder its health as long as it just gets on being a Lion a human doesn’t have to worry about it’s health if it approaches life as a human.

The modern world is a wonderful place offering us so many opportunities but it also means that we are the first species to become completely separated from living the way we are supposed to live. Though I’m not interested in going back to the dark ages and I bet you aren’t either.

I’m more interested in understanding what a human needs to stay healthy and what that means in the modern world. So the answer is not about banning Facebook or tv or only eating humous!!!, because that’s silly :-).

It’s about using our modern knowledge to understand the age old wonderfully designed machine that our body is and figuring out what happiness and health mean now.

Constant investment

This is where “create” comes in as part of the fit2thrive philosophy and it is a state where you are asking yourself the question

How can I get what is ideal for me with what I have?

Play is where you just be yourself and create is where you take action to bring your actual life in line with your dream life and, like play and compete it is about regularly taking many small steps. In this case the steps involve creating the path from where you are to where you want to be

To create your path, you must accept that you will get things wrong and make mistakes because that’s how you learn but as long as you keep an open mind and keep exploring, eventually you will find things that work for you.

If you are going to create your dream lifestyle then you have to start with basics.

  • What do you know about yourself?
  • What do you need to know?

Nobody achieves anything without investing time in knowledge, otherwise they’re just trusting their health to luck. So to start helping people on the journey to good health the first thing I have to address is the underlying lack of knowledge most people have about their own bodies.

That’s why I’ve shared a lot of posts explaining basic things about how the body works including:

These are in depth articles and may be beyond your comfort zone right now but don’t worry. I just felt I hadn’t really shared any thing particularly technical that explored health in depth so you had a right to wonder if I really know what I’m talking about. These articles go a little way to addressing that and underpin many of the lessons I plan to share over the coming months and years.

I’ve struggled for years with how best to help people understand their bodies because, quite frankly, there is so much to know, so much information and it’s hard to express it all no matter how hard you try.

So I share it here to make it easier to find and I encourage you to read a little as you find time but most of this is written according to what I feel will help you but it makes a lot more sense if you ask the questions and I try to answer them.

Connecting with people about their health is where I have struggled because there is so much information floating around my brain and so many contradictions and myths that come up in any conversation about health that my only real conclusion is that I need to help people learn a little here and there about how they work and how the way they live effects them so that over time the amount they know and the amount the can actually apply to creating their perfect lifestyle is enough to make a difference.

That is the point of each step in the “create” mindset because to fully understand your body will take years and it is something we rarely take the time to do. The only real barrier to brilliant health is your ability to take small steps each day to understand yourself that tiny bit more.

I’ve listed some of the articles that are available on fit2thrive.co.uk that you will learn a lot from. If you want something more personalised, then get in touch and I’ll speed up the process for you.

The most important articles that explain the ideas that underpin the site include:

These are the main articles covering common diseases:

And these are some articles looking at different aspects of health:

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading and gained something and I challenge you to take a moment today to learn just one thing about your body. It probably won’t seem like much but you might be surprised how it changes your perception of what you are truly capable of if you set your mind to it.

Have a great day and I hope to see you again soon.

Colin
