Update: This month and looking forward (with the full update this time)

In compete, create, Make you strong, play, steps by Colin Chambers0 Comments

I published this post last Friday but most of the content got left out. Some people told me there were only a couple of paragraphs when there should have been a lot of paragraphs and a proper update.

I’ve republished it so you get the full update and because I worked hard to explain all the updates and in some cases lack of updates recently. If you did read the whole article then I apologise for filling up your inbox. This happened because I use the read more tag which cuts off most of the post. It’s useful in some areas but not if it gets in the way of the post.

So… many thanks for your patience and back to the article!!!

Update

So I thought I should touch base and share where this blog is going because it may not be completely obvious to you and it’s my job to fix that.

What I’m trying to do is make it clear to everyone that real health and happiness is within their reach as long as they are prepared to understand how they work and then put that knowledge into their every day lives.

If you want to do this faster then get in touch or subscribe to my newsletter and I’ll know you want to know more and speed up the process.

This month

This month has been hectic for me as I expect it has been for you. The challenges included:

  • Our dog escaped, luckily she was found but we had to go and pick her up and fix the gate so she couldn’t get out again
  • Our lovely 18 month old american style fridge freezer broke down just after our monthly shop
  • Our little one had diarrhoea hence days off work and lots of entertaining a toddler

That’s the synopsis but you might get an idea that there was a lot going on behind the scenes, but of course that is true for everyone. It is why I’ve struggled to keep up with social media and get my upcoming course closer to production which I will talk about later.

For now I’ll just explain the relevance of all the different types of posts and topics that have been covered on the blog this month to help you understand why they do in fact form part of a wider plan.

Philosophy

I have started to expand the focus of the articles I have written because fit2thrive is about life and life is varied. To be healthy you need to embrace and balance all aspects of your life and I want fit2thrive to be a place you can go and feel good about being you instead of having to be someone else all the time.

Rather than being told health and fitness can only be done if you change yourself you need to personalise it so it fits you quite literally your life should fit you like a glove so that living it makes you healthy without much thought or effort. instead of having to carve out time and change what you eat for health I want you to

find things that you love (play) that are part of your daily pressures (compete) which build your path to happiness (create).

That does sound a bit cheesy 🙂 but I’m playing with different taglines and seeing what I like but the underlying message is what is important.

To that end I’ve started exploring posts on the topics of play, compete and create to help you see how much is within your reach and what you can aim for. I’ve just written articles that will come over the next two weeks explaining a little more about each area including:

  • what it means to be good at playing, competing and creating and,
  • why you should care in the first place.

Those articles will come out next week and I’m excited to hear what you think.

You may have noticed that most were previously published on one of my previous blogs and wondered why I also published them here. The reasons are varied but the most important is that I want the most important information in the one place which is on this site. I have been writing about health and fitness for years and I have hundreds (Over 600 at last count) to choose from.

So I wanted you to know that I have a lot more information available for free on other sites. I just haven’t linked it all up here yet and I’m in that slow process of organising it all and repurposing it now I have a clearer idea of where it all fits in the bigger picture.

Inspiration

I’ve also started sharing some of the inspirational quotes I’ve been collecting on pinterest for each of the topic areas I cover. When I see quotes that say something to me and give me energy and the right mindset then I have to keep them to look at when I need that little bit of help.

So I thought you might find them useful too because its worth knowing that there are many many more on the pinterest play compete and create boards if you ever find yourself in need of inspiration while building your healthy journey.

Looking forward

I’ve been thinking a lot about where I want to go with this blog and it does frustrate me how much time it takes to put a post together that I’m actually proud of. At the same time I don’t like that I’m telling you to be active but to hear my message you actually have to sit down and focus. That’s really the opposite of what I want.

Audio

I’ve been listening to podcasts for a long time and find them perfect for learning and listening while I workout and get things done. I’m also impressed with just how much information people can get across in a short time through audio.

So I’m experimenting with audio and potentially a podcast because I need to find ways to do more with less and I want to enable you to move and get things done whilst I explain the benefits of moving whilst getting things done.

You see what I did there 🙂

Energy Matters course: Video or Audio

You might be wondering what has happened to the Energy Matters course I have been promoting and said would accept the first entrants at the beginning of March. I have been busy and that has had an impact but that isn’t the reason it’s not available yet. I’m always busy but I generally still deliver as I expect do you.

The reason is one of the common problems of production because I was in two minds about what medium to actually produce the course in; video or audio. Please let me know if you have a preference so I can take that into account but both options present a challenge to me and each has its own particular strengths particularly for you the audience.

I was considering doing video for the course because everyone seems to advise doing video these days but I’m just not set up for it and that was basically getting in the way. I would have got more done without holding back for a video solution. So I apologise that it’s taking me longer but I’m now in a position to start focusing on the course from next week.

I’m likely to go back to one or two posts a week as I focus my efforts and I may even get an audio episode out as I practice producing a audio lessons. I am still aiming to produce video but I don’t plan to appear in it. That was the main challenge because I like the idea of being there for you just like I used to be there for people in a gym for one on one coaching but when I watch what other people have done I just don’t have the time or space to achieve the same.

Instead I plan to record audio which is much easier for me to do and then use the resources I’m talking about as a focus for the video. The main reason is that I want you to be active and get stuff done. Video is often best when you stop and watch with text it’s a requirement that you stop all you are doing. That’s the opposite of what you want and it is audio that supports exactly what I want. So audio is the choice I’m opting for unless all of you tell me differently :-).

So, if anyone has any advice on how to produce good audio, edit it and host it then I’m all ears and if you can tell me how to do video in a way that fits my goals that please get in touch aswell.

Until next time, thanks for taking the time to stop by and have a great day 🙂

Colin
